“We”, “us” and “our” mean THE JEWELLERS LTD. “You” means the person placing the order. Our business is retail sale of watches and jewellery in specialised stores.
What we sell, and what we do not
We sell finished consumer jewellery in solid 925 sterling silver — 42 articles in plain forms, priced between £12 and £189 including VAT, together with the cloth and liquid used to maintain them.
To be unambiguous about the category we operate in:
- We do not sell bullion, bars, ingots, rounds or coins, and nothing we sell is offered as an investment or a store of value.
- We do not buy metal back, operate a scrap or exchange service, or quote against the spot market.
- We do not offer credit, savings, instalment plans, membership, subscription, stored balance or points. Every purchase is a single one-off transaction.
- We do not sell plated, filled, bonded or silver-tone items, stones of any kind, ivory (Ivory Act 2018), CITES-listed materials or real fur.
We make no health, medical, therapeutic, spiritual or fortune-telling claims about any item we sell, and we do not permit such claims in any description on this site.
How a contract is formed
- Adding items to your bag and entering your details is an invitation to treat, not a contract.
- Submitting the order is your offer to buy. Before you can submit it you must be able to see the complete total including VAT and delivery, and you must confirm you have read these terms, the returns policy and the privacy notice.
- An acknowledgement email confirms we have received the order. It is not acceptance.
- The contract is formed when we send a dispatch confirmation. If we cannot accept — the item is out of stock, the price was clearly wrong, or we cannot lawfully ship to the address — we tell you and refund in full.
You can review and correct your entries at every step before submitting. The contract is concluded in English, and we keep a record of it which you may request at any time.
Prices, VAT and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT at the applicable UK rate. Delivery is charged separately at the rates set out on the delivery page, and is free on UK orders over £80. No charge is added at any later stage.
Payment is taken at the point of order through the payment method configured for this store. We do not see, handle or store full card details. Where a payment is declined or reversed we may cancel the order.
If a price is obviously wrong — for example a decimal error — and the error is reasonably obvious to you, we may cancel and refund rather than supply at that price. We will always tell you before doing so.
Silver price movement
Silver is a traded commodity and its price moves. Because most of what you are buying is the metal itself, our prices may change to reflect that movement, along with changes in production and delivery costs.
The price that applies to your order is the price displayed on the product page at the moment you submit the order. A change after that point does not affect an order already placed, and we will not ask you for more money after you have ordered. Equally, a later price drop does not entitle you to a partial refund on an order already dispatched.
Prices quoted in an email, a saved bag or a screenshot are not held open indefinitely. If you want certainty, place the order.
Promotions and offers
- Free UK delivery over £80 is calculated on the goods total including VAT, after any discount, and excluding delivery itself.
- First-order codes are single use, one per customer and per delivery address, cannot be combined with another code, and cannot be applied retrospectively to an order already placed.
- Set pricing is a genuine saving against the individual catalogue prices of the pieces in it, and any “was” price we show is a price at which the items have actually been offered. We do not display invented reference prices.
- Where a promotion has an end date we state it. We may withdraw an unadvertised offer at any time, but never after you have used it in a submitted order.
- Discounts do not change your rights. A discounted item carries the same 14-day right to withdraw and the same statutory rights as a full-price one.
Product descriptions, weights and images
Silver weights are stated in grams to one decimal place and are nominal for the article as manufactured. Because pieces are made by hand from drawn wire and rolled sheet, the actual weight of an individual article may vary by up to ±5%. Ring sizes are cut to ±0.3 mm of internal circumference. Chain lengths are measured end to end including the clasp and may vary by up to ±5 mm.
Photographs are taken at high magnification under hard directional light in order to show surface finish. A piece will look smaller and less textured in the hand than it does on screen — the dimensions in the specification block are the accurate guide, not the image.
Hallmark status is stated on every article. Where an article is hallmarked we name the assay office. Date letters vary by production batch and are read from the piece itself.
Services we promise, and the ones we do not
We make no open-ended, unlimited or for-life promise about any piece, and we would rather list what we actually do than imply something broader. We provide:
- One free professional polish per article within 12 months of purchase. You pay the postage to us; we pay the return postage.
- Free clasp replacement within 6 months where a clasp spring fails in normal use.
- Chargeable repairs beyond those periods, quoted before any work starts. Some constructions — herringbone in particular — cannot be economically repaired once creased, and we will tell you that rather than take the piece in.
- Ring resizing on plain bands up to two sizes either way, quoted in advance. A resized ring is an altered article and cannot subsequently be returned under the withdrawal right.
None of this limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in respect of goods that are faulty or not as described. See faulty or misdescribed goods.
Engraving
Two articles can be engraved. Engraving is cut into the metal and cannot be removed or altered afterwards. You are responsible for the text you supply, including its spelling. We reproduce it exactly as entered.
An engraved article is made to your specification and is therefore excluded from the 14-day right to withdraw under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. You confirm this separately before the item can be added to your bag and again at checkout.
We will decline engraving text that is unlawful, that infringes someone else’s trade mark or copyright, or that is abusive or hateful, and we will refund in full if we do.
Engraving text is personal data. It is used only for production and is deleted in line with the retention periods in the privacy notice.
Using this site
You may use this site to browse and to buy. You may not scrape it at scale, attempt to interfere with it, probe it for vulnerabilities, or reproduce its photographs or text commercially without our permission. All content on this site is our property or is used with permission.
Orders may be placed by adults aged 18 or over. We may decline or cancel an order where we reasonably suspect fraud, where a delivery address cannot be verified, or where an order appears to be for resale.
Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for breach of your legal rights in relation to the goods.
We supply the goods for domestic and private use. We have no liability for loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.
Governing law and changes
These terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the version published on this site at the time you placed it. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
